What Presence: Epistemology, Technology, and the Supernatural
2022, Installation
Tales of hauntings and apparitions beg the question - what happens at the edge of our understanding, that which we cannot logically explain? Drawing from the histories of spiritualism and the pre and early cinematic image, What Presence contemplates how the supernatural and epistemological entwine and what truth or truths we may be able to conjure from the dark hubbub of the séance room.

10:00 - 10:30: Nora Lengyel
A Radical Technology of the Non-self
2022, VR Experience
The concept of an experimental VR serious game is presented, where participants can experience and learn new words related
to well-being, supported by physical objects. The project is an attempt to support mental health in capitalism, therefore,
the design of the experience is a response to the requirements collected during the research: Interrupt achievement society, Creating a space for profound boredom, Defining/creating “handles” in life, Exploring the good
life, by creating a technology of the non-self to enhance the capacity for productive relationships between participants, with the inclusion of a radical technology of our times.

Placing quartz stones/crystals in streams (e.g., so that they shine/sparkle in the moonlight, thereby attracting salmon).

BONE SOUP AND POPPY SEEDS
Bone Modification in Professional Dance
2022, Performance
Dance can be art and science practice at the same time. Training the body to become a skilled professional dancer is a highly
scientific practice: it involves anatomy and sports science. However, the outcome of all the training is performance art.
The artistic outcome is more important than the scientific reality of the body. In the name of Art, many dancers suffer physically
and psychologically. In the wake of cultural and social changes, people working in the professional dance field must realize
that some traditional practices are not ethical anymore. Dancers are such disciplined individuals, but most often, we only
see the surface of their existence. The performance "Bone Soup and Poppy Seeds" attempts to shed light on the toxic culture
surrounding professional dance by scientifically proving an unhealthy lifestyle's damaging effect and showing real personal
consequences.
